Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, development, engineering, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western’s campus community. The Power Plant Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and managing the logistical and day-to-day activities of projects related to the Power Plant at Western, and will provide managerial support to the Power Plant’s day-to–day operations and during periods of absence of the Manager, Power Plant.  The incumbent will develop and update construction and operational process project plans, and support the design, implementation and evaluation of project components.  The Power Plant Coordinator will participate in project budget development, and manage these budgets throughout the life cycle of the projects, ensuring project outcomes are achieved on time and within budgetary constraints.  The incumbent will communicate progress updates to stakeholders, schedule project meetings, support change management initiatives and respond to any related inquiries.  The Power Plant Coordinator will assume responsibility for the safe, efficient and reliable operation and maintenance of the Central Power Plant, the Satellite Cooling and Heating Plants, and associated equipment as required.

-   2 year Power Engineering Technology Diploma
-   Licensed Second Class Power (Operating) Engineer; working to acquire and maintain First Class
-   Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering is preferred
-   Licensed First Class Power (Operating) Engineer is preferred
-   Licensed Gas Technician 1 is preferred

-   5 years experience working in a power plant with a minimum of 3 years experience as a Second Class Operator, with accountabilities for coordinating and implementing Power Plant related projects
-   Project management experience is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-   Ability to evaluate issues, recognize potential problems and take action to proactively resolve issues
-   Ability to ensure project expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
-   Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
-   Ability to handle diverse situations, multiple and complex projects and rapidly changing priorities
-   Knowledge of common project obstacles and necessary controls and contingency plans that will help address them
-   Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity
-   Project management skills to align projects with operational objectives, ensure team roles are clear, milestones are communicated, and deadlines are met
-   Ability to efficiently handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines by setting effective priorities
-   Sound judgment and decision making ability with a willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
-   Organizational skills to manage multiple activities that are accurate and thorough, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities
-   Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with various stakeholders and colleagues, including senior management
-   Ability to evaluate issues, recognize potential problems and take action to proactively resolve issues
-   Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
-   Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
