Job Description
Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Controller will have the opportunity to be part of a fast growing and dynamic team. This individual must be comfortable filling multiple roles, both administrative and strategic, and handling competing priorities within in a Manufacturing environment. The role will also work closely with various stakeholders (staff, managers, executive team, customers, government regulators, investors, etc).
The company operates as a business-to-business enterprise, offering toll processing and contract manufacturing services to Licensed Producers (LP's) and third party brands. The company is positioned for expansion throughout 2021 and we are seeking a dynamic and professional individual to join our team to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustained growth.
Position Overview

Develop financial models, cost projections, and analysis. Present models to the leadership team to help guide decision making

Maintain accounting and accrual schedules

Lead the annual budget process. Compare budget and actual results. Analyze and provide insight into areas for improvement

Work with operations team to generate production forecasting and scheduling

Liaise with the auditors for the quarterly/annual reviews and audits. Maintain strong relationships with them to ensure compliance

Coordination of all departments in adopting best practice internal controls including customer service, finance, production and administration

Prepare supporting documentation required by other team members (R&D, grants, applications, etc)

Review and coordinate Accounts Payable (review/analyze vendor invoices, purchase orders, credit card transactions, expense claims)

Review and coordinate Accounts Receivable (review customer contracts, prepare invoices, assist with collections)

Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports and KPIs for different business lines along with variance analysis

Assist with margin analysis, identify trends, provide insights and partner with the leadership team to support tactical and strategic business decisions

Design and implement new financial processes and policies; recommend improvements to existing processes and policies.

Support the leadership team in preparing for board meetings and actioning follow-up

Keep up to date on income tax, excise tax and cannabis legislation

Manage monthly reporting to Health Canada and CRA

Other related duties as assigned by the CEO
Skill Requirements
-
3 – 5 years Management accounting experience (CPA, CMA)
-
3 – 5 years in a Manufacturing Environment

Experience working with an ERP platform (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc)

Comfortable working in MS Excel and advanced functionality (VBA)
-
Ability to handle competing priorities

Proven time management skills

Experience with financial modelling, forecasting, and sensitivity analysis
Preferred Skills

CFA designation

Experience building out and implementing an ERP platform

Experience working in a highly regulated environment

Experience working in a high growth B2B Startup

Base level understanding of Science / Engineering an asset

Experience building out complex models involving multiple variables
This position requires a valid Driver’s License, a criminal background check, and ability to travel within Southwestern Ontario by vehicle.
