Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this position is responsible for supervising the operations of the Assembly Department. The Supervisor ensures employees are aware of all safety requirements and instructs them in the Company’s Health & Safety Program. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this position is responsible for supervising the operations of the Assembly Department. - Follow company planning system for production scheduling
- Prepare work schedules, make work assignments for employees and sets work deadlines
- Inspect work in progress and completed to ensure conformance to specifications and adherence to quality standards
- Work with engineering department through design and fabrication process
- Issue purchase requisitions for materials and parts necessary to perform work
- Maintain ISO-9001 Standards as they relate manufacturing
- Attend weekly production meetings and reports on work in progress
- Support the Manufacturing Manager in the development of sales proposals by providing labour estimates for the assembly department
- Responsible for the hiring or termination of all personnel in the assembly department
- Take regular measures (including customer feedback) to ensure awareness of the quality of, and attitude towards, work which is performed by direct reports, in order to fairly judge their capabilities
- Ensure compliance with the OHSA legislation
- Participate in development and implementation of programs to protect the employees’ safety and health
- Previous experience within a manufacturer of heavy equipment with leadership responsibilities
- Effective leadership and team-building skills
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and effectively manage assignments
- Journeyperson/licensed in a relevant skilled trade, or equivalent experience
- Detail-oriented and self-directed in execution of tasks
- Proven sense of urgency in completing tasks
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics and electrical components an asset
