In partnership with Prime Management Group Inc., Steelway Building Systems is recruiting for a driven, collaborative, results-oriented Plant Manager to join and lead their organization in one of their state-of-the-art facilities in Aylmer, Ontario.
The Plant Manager will diligently oversee all aspects of the business, translating visionary concepts into functional plans for the company while enriching and shaping the company’s culture by way of example and collaborative guidance to the Ardent family of companies (Steelway Building Systems, ExSteel Building Components, Zelus Material Handling, Glass Canada and Ventri Door Technologies).
The Plant Manager’s purpose will be to motivate a high-performance team that delivers excellence by:
 
  • Providing direct supervision to Production Leaders and being accountable for the activities of production teams; including all manufacturing processes and procedures to maintain delivery commitments and improve product and process non-conformances.
  • Maintaining a regular presence on the production floor and works to maintain high levels of communication with Production Leaders and employees and ensures the highest level of employee training to continuously improve plant operations.
  • Ensuring that all safety policies are followed and remain relevant as the company grows and changes and overseeing the administration of the company’s Employee Association agreement and ensure that employees questions and concerns are answered promptly.
  • Showing continuous ability to use the available assets to grow efficient output and creates monthly forecasts and reports on month end results and maximizing gross profit contribution within the manufacturing facility.
  • Recommending staffing levels for production activities, including recommendation for recruitment and selection.
  • Sustaining the highest quality of customer relationships, internal and external and a high level of communication with the project managers, builder services team and engineering / drafting team, giving regular updates on capacity levels and/or constraints
  • Monitoring and adjusting plant capacities as required to provide best possible lead times.
  • Practicing active problem-solving strategies to effectively address issues as they arise.

To qualify for this exciting and unique opportunity, you will have:
  • Minimum of 10 years industrial manufacturing experience, with five years of suitable direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated performance as high-energy team player, with ability to lead people and administer results.
  • Engineering or Business degree a definite asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to use team-building principles to constantly improve output and profitability.
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Ability to multi-task, assist and coach others where required.
  • Excellent communication skills and teambuilding abilities
  • Ability to work within a high-performance culture.
