About Us

Undergraduate Medicine is one of nine programs within the Education Portfolio in the Dean’s Office at the
Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (SSMD). The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program is a
four-year program which qualifies students for the MD degree. The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME)
Program coordinates all aspects of the MD program. The MD curriculum is delivered across multiple
communities in South-western Ontario, including the city of Windsor.

Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator (Assessment Coordinator) will work closely with the Curriculum Support Team and
Faculty Lead, Assessment to support student assessment across all four years of the undergraduate medical
education program by developing and implementing tools and processes for the Program, ensuring adherence
to program standards. The role will provide support for the operational leadership, vision, and direction for
SSMD assessment practices and tools in support of the academic vision of the MD Program. The Program
Coordinator will provide support for the analysis and reporting of evaluation data, and provide expertise in the
development of program-specific evaluation tools to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with
accreditation standards. The role will ensure the effective day-to-day scheduling, facilitate the logistical
functions of the program, administer detailed tasks and projects, contribute to the development and
implementation of revised policies and procedures, and act as a first point of contact for internal and external
inquiries.

Qualifications

Education:
- 3 Year University Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Analytics or relevant
discipline

Experience:
- 4 years’ experience providing academic administrative support and coordination of post-secondary
assessment processes including experience with databases and statistical analysis
- 3 years’ experience coordinating assessment processes in medical education in a higher education
institution preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of accreditation standards and of current and future assessment
methodologies in an educational environment (such as those related to content testing, delivery, and e-
Learning)
- Familiarity with best practices for assessing, developing and implementing new business processes and
procedures
- Ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications
when required
- Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within
tightly prescribed timelines
- Ability to collaborate and develop credible relationships with a wide variety of individuals
- Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
- Analytical skills to accurately interpret and integrate report data from various sources
- Ability to produce high-quality results and workable solutions that meet client needs
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring
that information is accurate and comprehensive
- Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Discretion, tact and maturity to deal with highly confidential subjects or issues
- Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
- Capacity to consider issues from the perspective of others
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the Unit’s events and activities
- Ability to provide guidance to assist others in solving complex problems
- Intermediate proficiency required in Microsoft Office in order to prepare emails, reports and documents, and
to input data into spreadsheets and databases
