Program Management Business Class and Service Delivery Technology Lead

About the Role

HDR is seeking a Resources Program Management Business Class and Service Delivery Technology Leader to lead program management services and service delivery technology across the Resources Business Group (Power, Waste, and Industrial Market Sectors).

This is a hybrid leadership role combining:

  • Program Management Business Class Leadership (~30%)
  • Resources Service Delivery Technology Lead (~30%)
  • Technical Project Execution / Project Leadership (~40%)

You will connect technical delivery, strategy, and innovation while working closely with leadership and technology teams.

Primary Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide leadership, coordination, and advancement of our program management services and technology integration within HDR's Resources Business Group.

This position reports to the Resources Professional Services Director (with dashed line reporting to the Resources Program Management Director and Resources Technology Director) through an operating Area and maintains close coordination with other Service Delivery Business Class Leads, the Resources Cross Sector Technology Lead, and the Resources Digital Delivery Lead.

This position will leverage HDR performance metrics and tools to monitor the health and performance of the Resources Program Management business class and support continued business group success.
 

This position serves as a senior technical and strategic leader along with advancing the alignment, integration and strategic direction for technology within the Resources Business Group. This role will help shape our strategic plan for the next three to five years, and position HDR as a differentiator in the marketplace.

Key responsibilities for each role include:  

Program Management Business Class Leadership

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer by establishing standards, tools, and recommended practices across for RBG Program Management Business Class.
  • Collaborate with other Service Delivery Business Class Leads such as Project Controls, Commercial Management, Construction Field Services, and Alternative Delivery to provide leadership of technical capabilities within Program Management.
  • Promote consistent delivery and technical excellence.
  • Support assignment of qualified, experienced staff to projects including the support of work sharing.
  • Monitor KPIs of the business class to meet defined areas, regional and business-group metrics. 
  • Lead mentorship, training, and career development programs for practitioners within the Program Management business class.
  • Support the implementation of recruiting, onboarding, and retention strategies.
  • Support the implementation of pursuits, proposal development, and staffing strategies.
  • Support in developing and implementing a strategic plan for program management.
  • Serve as an industry thought leader and represent HDR through industry engagement.
  • Promote a unified Program Management practice by monitoring adherence to policies and practices, quality, technical tools, project staffing and resources.
  • Achieve a Project Utilization of 40%.

     

     

     

    Service Delivery Technology Leadership

     

     

  • Support initiatives to optimize project execution including the advancement and implementation of technology related to service delivery, digital delivery, data management, optimization, automation, and visualization.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and technology innovations while challenging the existing technology stack & limiting technical debt.
  • Develop technology strategies for our service delivery business classes (i.e. Program Management, Commercial Management, Project Controls, and Construction Field Services) to foster technology talent collaboration and skills development.
  • Develop a team of product subject-matter experts (SMEs) for the various technology stacks or tools that are utilized by our Service Delivery Business Classes (i.e. Program Management, Commercial Management, Project Controls, Construction Field Services, and Alternative Delivery).
  • Partner with our Resources Technology Director, Digital Delivery Lead, and Cross Sector Technology Lead to develop and implement our Annual Technology Roadmap.

  • Demonstrated industry involvement and professional visibility through organizations, presentations, or publications. 
  • A strong data fluency (and curiosity to keep learning).
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods (DB, PDB, EPC, EPCM, CMAR).
  • Experience implementing and utilizing PMIS (Project Management Information System) such as E-Builder, ProCore, Kahua, Oracle Primavera, etc.
  • Master's degree
  • PMP Certification

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field
  • Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) The pay range for this position in North America (based on experience and location) is $166,400 - $228,800.
