Role:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Special Events and Dundas Place or designate, the Community Operations Assistant supports events and activations in municipal spaces including Dundas Place through onsite assistance to event organizers including event and activation set ups and by providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons. 

Job Responsibilities

• Provide a friendly, welcoming and professional presence for members of the public during activations, movie nights and special events.
• Act as a liaison with community members in providing information on facilities and services.
• Set-up of equipment for events including but not limited to tents, tables, chairs, and audio-visual equipment.
• Conduct decibel readings.
• Assist event organizers by providing access to electrical and water connections.
• Ensure policies and procedures relative to the event are adhered to by participants.
• Document events and activations by taking photographs and videos.
• Take down and store all City equipment.
• Control access to facility and monitor participants and spectators. Escalate as required. 
• Clean areas of the building including washrooms, hallways, shared rooms, and other areas as required. Follow standard operating procedures. 
• Ensure walkways and entrance ways are clear of obstructions.
• Ensure hallways and rooms are secure when not in use.
• Report vandalism incidents and/or safety/maintenance issues related to the operation of the facility.
• Clean and remove litter and garbage found on Dundas Place and any event space, in overflowing litter bins, within the building and public washrooms.
• Ensure the garbage is streamed properly (recyclables, compostable, garbage).
• Perform basic data entry.
• Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment. 
• Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 16 years of age. 
• Standard First Aid (prior to the start of employment or the ability to obtain)
• Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (prior to the start of employment)

• Ability to demonstrate good communication, high energy, and enthusiasm. 
• Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills. 
• Able to work with minimum supervision. 
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 
• High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
   

Other Information:

• This is a part time, contract position.
• Rate of pay is $17.75 - $19.75/hour.
• CSA rated safety boots are required for this position.
