WILL Immploy Mentorship Advisor

Reporting to the Team Leader, WILL Immploy Employer Engagement Project, the WILL Immploy Mentorship Advisor is responsible for bringing immigrant job seekers and regional employers within the same field together. The goal of this position is to foster relationships with regional employers to build awareness about WILL Immploy’s mentorship program and successfully recruit volunteer mentors to be matched with immigrant job seekers seeking employment opportunities in their field or occupation.

WHO ARE YOU?
  • 3+ years experience in a related role.
  • Knowledge and experience of not-for-profit organizations is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Southwestern Ontario labour market.
  • Proficient technology skills including experience with online learning platforms, online conferencing/meeting platforms, and utilization of social media as a networking and marketing tool.
  • Experience in program delivery with preferred experience in the employment and training sector or recruitment industry.
  • Understanding of the needs of regional employers, and ability to market the program as a solution for their talent attraction and professional development needs.
  • Self-starter with excellent organization, planning and time management skills.
  • Goal-oriented with ability to coordinate activities as part of an integrated team.
  • Proven success in networking and developing meaningful relationships.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present to both large and small groups
  • Ability to acknowledge challenges in relationships and coach volunteers and clients to ensure positive interactions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Cross-cultural competency with an ability to interact and work effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to handle confidential information.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for regional employer and stakeholder meetings.
OUR ASK?
  • Identify and coordinate suitable matches between immigrant job seekers and volunteer mentors participating in the program.
  • Recruit new volunteer mentors by promoting the program at community events; utilizing social media channels; making presentations at local workplace; proactive in-person networking; and developing and hosting mentorship program events and activities that recognize our volunteers’ efforts, facilitate matches and build community awareness about the program.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of the education, skills and experiences of participating mentees and volunteer mentors for matching purposes.
  • Provide accurate and timely information in response to inquiries from employers, mentors, community partners and newcomers.
  • Help market the mentorship program to the business community, potential mentors and corporate partners leveraging traditional and creative ways of engagement.
  • Work effectively as the liaison between mentees and mentors before, throughout, and at conclusion of the mentorship match.
  • Capture success stories, challenges, and outcomes to inform program activities and for the purposes of funder reports.
  • Develop and implement work plans and evaluations for mentorship matches.
  • Provide input and assist with report writing and proposal development for the Mentorship programs when required.
  • Establish ongoing relationships with community partners to ensure referral information is up to date for support that clients may access outside of WILL services.
  • Intentionally and strategically collaborate across WILL programs to support the achievement of the WILL mission and goals
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
