Greenhouse Planter / Container Design

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented applicant for planting mixed containers, baskets and custom orders for the spring season. This is a full-time seasonal position from February to June 2016, with possible extension.

Job Duties

• Selecting appropriate plant material and medium to create outstanding combinations for retail
• Working quickly and efficiently to complete planting as per an aggressive production schedule
• Maintaining, watering and labelling containers and baskets
• Keeping impeccable production and custom order records (including any waste/discards)
• Ready and willing to interact with customers with a courteous and eager attitude
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area
• Other assorted greenhouse duties, as required

Qualifications

• Must have a sound working knowledge of plants, their growing habits and conditions and what plants grow well together
• Minimum three years experience working in a greenhouse
• Applicant must be comfortable with standing for extended periods of time, have the ability to bend and place containers and trays in an orderly fashion, with little physical limitations, and occasionally picking up and carrying up to 40 lbs.

Work Hours

• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed
• 30-40 hours per week
• Start times vary with season

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, carrying moderately heavy loads, lifting and handling trays, physically demanding, attention to detail, ability to distinguish between colours, combination of bending, standing, crouching, walking, large workload. Adaptable to differences in temperatures - warm, humid, cold, non air-conditioned.
