Summary of Duties:

Reports to Manager(s) or designate, the Housing Support Worker provides clients seeking social and affordable housing with focused customer service to determine initial and continued eligibility, and support ongoing housing stability.  

Work Performed:

  • Maintains knowledge of the Housing Services Act and regulations, locally-driven housing programs and the Provincial Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing guidelines, municipal policies and community resources. 
  • Reviews and completes all necessary documentation in compliance with Requests for Reviews and provides information to Managers to inform decisions.
  • Completes all necessary Province of Ontario and municipal documentation in compliance with regulations and guidelines. 
  • Checks and assesses incomes, assets and circumstances to establish initial and continuing eligibility for Housing Programs.
  • Completes comprehensive documentation regarding participant’s housing history and relevant circumstances for future consideration. 
  • Uses client’s housing-related needs assessment to refer client to the appropriate agencies in order to assist in the shortest route to housing.
  • Reviews housing inquiries and responds to Management, clients and/or housing providers as assigned.  Meets with Housing Provides, property management firms and clients to discuss issues and concerns pertaining to inquiries and situations, as necessary.
  • Responds to client inquiries to support in securing and retaining housing.  
  • Refers clients to agencies to access support resources; contacts agencies on behalf of clients, as required, in circumstances where immediate, additional or specific supports and services are required.  
  • Maintains all required documentation for data processing and statistical purposes. 
  • Makes informational presentations on social housing and/or housing programs.
  • Provides back-up coverage for the Waitlist Coordinator Position and provides training to the Housing Services Representative and Client Services Representative, as necessary, in the absence of the Waitlist Coordinator.
  • Performs related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

Completion of a two-year Social Service Worker diploma or equivalent.  

Experience:

One year of previous related experience is required.

Specialized Training & Licenses:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and software related data management.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence - Class G 
     

Compensation & Other Information:

$50,148 - $71,049 (Level 10)

This posting is for 1 temporary full-time position up to 2 years position.

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.

These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.

NOTE: Applicants may be required to complete a job related test.
