Salary Range: $35.38 - $41.65 /hour
This is a temporary part-time position that is anticipated to extend until December 4, 2026, and is subject to the availability of work.
Occupational Health and Safety Services provides occupational health services to the staff of St. Joseph's Health Care London. As a member of the occupational health and safety team, the Health and Safety, Practical Nurse in this assignment will be responsible for administration of vaccinations to the standards in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hospital policies, procedures and medical directives. The Health & Safety Practical Nurse will be responsible for the administration of programs associated with influenza and COVID-19 prevention/management.
Key responsibilities in this assignment will include ensuring the staff respiratory season immunization program is conducted in accordance with the Ontario Hospital Association Guidelines and Influenza Protocol as required, monitoring for and managing any adverse reactions to the vaccination, including assessment of the situation, provision of first aid and emergency care and/or accessing necessary emergency measures, and ensuring appropriate follow up is provided and provision of vaccination as per protocols.
The Health and Safety, Practical Nurse contributes to the ongoing development and provision of evidenced based, best practice in the delivery of our staff respiratory season vaccination program. This role supports staff health and wellbeing. The successful candidate is an experienced and enthusiastic influencer who brings energy to work and relationships, has a passion for customer service and builds community among teams they serve.
The successful candidates will work across all sites of St Joseph's Healthcare London (including HMMS, Family Medical Dental Clinic and Southwest Centre).
Essential Qualifications
- Current RPN certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- One-year related experience
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated experience with providing health prevention programs
- Competency and experience in providing intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and performing venipuncture
- Ability to provide effective emergency and crisis intervention, including first aid
- Experience in educational program development, implementation, delivery and evaluation
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong teaching, coaching, instruction and presentation skills
- Strong focus on customer service and working as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills, as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team setting
- Demonstrated intermediate-level computer skills in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and Outlook and Teams.
- Working knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Public Hospitals Act
- Demonstrated competency in assessment, evaluation and implementation of care for clients with predictable, low risk situations
- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- Experience working in occupational health or related setting

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
