Job Status: Seasonal contract, June 7 – Sept 4, 2026
Compensation: $20.23 per hour (plus 4% in vacation pay)
Number of Positions: 1 vacancy, contingent upon approval of Canada Summer Jobs funding
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week including evenings and weekends

The Events and Customer Service position supports natural heritage and environmental programming, education programs, and recreational events at Fanshawe Conservation Area. This position also helps support the visitor experience and customer service team to enhance visitor experience, and assist with the development, implementation and coordination of programs and special events that align with the UTRCA’s strategy and vision.
This role is contingent upon funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program, to be approved April 2025. Job offers will be made only upon confirmation of funding.
Responsibilities

Assist with the creation and implementation of natural heritage and environmental programming, recreational events and education programs;

Work with the visitor experience and customer service team at Fanshawe CA to enhance guests’ enjoyment, safety and satisfaction during their visit;

Assist with updating Fanshawe Conservation Area website and social media;

Act as a host for events taking place at Fanshawe Conservation Area. Work with the Campers Association, Visitor Experience Specialist and community groups to provide support for special events;

Sell permits and register guests according to Conservation Authority policy;

Assist with the coordination of booking and monitoring internal programs and special events, external special events, programs and outdoor recreation day use rentals within the Fanshawe day-use area and event spaces

Provide administrative support for the Fanshawe CA special events and facility/equipment rentals following UTRCA policies, procedures and guidelines

Provide quality customer service to guests providing information regarding facilities, regulations, policies and the general Authority mandate;

Address customer concerns and complaints;

Assist staff when required to do so in other work areas of the Conservation Area.
Qualifications

This position is funded through Canada Summer Job Program; therefore candidates must meet the following criteria:
-
Must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive)
-
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
-
Must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
-
Post-secondary education in Environmental Studies, Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality, Event Planning or a related program;
-
Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays;
-
Ability to work varied shifts, including include days, afternoons, and weekends;
-
Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with a high volume of visitors each day;

Strong verbal and written communication skills;
-
Last, but certainly not least, passion, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn.

Valid Ontario Driver’s License

Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate

Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Current Criminal Records & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) prior to commencement of employment.
