Machine Maintenance Team Leader – Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)

We are a climate controlled Japanese Automotive Parts Manufacturer in the St. Thomas, ON region and are seeking a Team Leader / Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) to fulfill the full-time and permanent roles and responsibilities pertaining to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment, machinery, and facilities as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 12 diploma
- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Trade Certificate of Qualification (433A)
- 3 to 5 years Manufacturing experience in a Metal Stamping & Welding environment
- Previous experience in Team Leader / leadership role
- Working knowledge of the Metric system
- Proficient in the use of mills, lathes, surface grinders, and related equipment.
- Must have blue print reading skills (electrical, mechanical, pneumatical, hydraulic)
- Proficient in welding mig & tig.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY:
- Effects and fortify policies and procedures to provide a safe work environment.
- Ensures adherence to all H&S policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Oversee, schedules, and assists the maintenance of all machinery and equipment inclusive of preventative maintenance, trouble-shooting, repairs, modifications, fabrication requirements, and installation of machines / equipment
- Acts as the Machine Maintenance point person for the Assistant Manager, Machine Maintenance & Facilities.
- Co-ordinates the orientation/familiarization of new Team Members joining the Machine Maintenance department and assists in the training of new and current Machine Maintenance Team Members (apprentices and maintenance helpers) as requested.
- Knowledgeable/proficient in the uses of maintenance tools and equipment, (gauges, mills, lathes, surface grinders, welders, etc.).
- Effects repairs of machinery, equipment, and facility at the work station(s) or in the Maintenance area.
- Responds to Team Member inquiries regarding the status of machinery and equipment repairs and/or modifications, and to the fabrication status of ancillary tooling/equipment such as jigs, fixtures, carts, tables, racking, etc.
- With the assistance of the Engineering Specialist(s), Plant Specialist, and the Purchasing Specialist, co-ordinates the procurement of Machine Maintenance related supplies and services pertaining to machine and equipment maintenance.
- Ensures and promotes teamwork within the department.
- Maintains 4S and ensures that all Team Members are participating in 4S within the department.
- Trained and certified in the use of forklifts and/or overhead cranes.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
- Maintain and repair production equipment/machinery (Stamping Presses & Welders)
- Install, fabricate and troubleshoot ancillary equipment & tooling
- Troubleshoot, adjust, teach and program weld robots
- Troubleshoot hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and related plant equipment
- Thorough understanding of relevant machinery/equipment including overhead cranes, welding and metal cutting equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Mechanical aptitude with fabrication, welding and machining experience
- Conducting preventive maintenance programs and maintaining records
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills a must
- Excellent planning, analytical and organizational skills combined with automotive sense of urgency
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of and adherence to all Health & Safety regulations and Safety Codes
- Able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and extended hours as scheduled
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Interacts daily with all hourly Team Members on shift
- Daily interaction with other departments (Weld, Press, etc.)
- Accountable to the Machine Maintenance & Facilities Assistant Manager
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent planning, analytical and organizational skills combined with automotive sense of urgency
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Adhere to all Health & Safety Regulations and Safety Codes
- Able to work rotating shifts and extended work hours
- Ability to work without supervision
- Contributes to the growth of the department and company with positive initiatives
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform work at heights as required (i.e. scissor-lift / genie booms / ladders, etc).
- Required to work shift(s) as scheduled.
