Infrastructure Services, as a division of WTS, is responsible for providing faculty, staff and students with a technology infrastructure comprised of hardware and software that supports the teaching, learning, and administration needs of the campus.
The Infrastructure Services division is tasked with the design, implementation, and maintenance, of the referenced infrastructure which includes the foundational components, Data Network, Data Center Operations, Central Servers and System Administration.
Responsibilities
The Network Infrastructure Engineer is a technical expert within the Network Infrastructure Team. The role analyzes network performance and contributes to the planning, design, implementation, automation and management of the University’s wired and wireless network infrastructure to support business needs, improve operational efficiency, enhance service reliability and reduce operational risk.

Qualifications
Education:
- University Degree with at least a minor in Computer Science
- Coursework or formal training in advanced network design and enterprise networking
- ITIL Certification preferred
- 5 years of experience supporting enterprise wired and wireless network infrastructure, including routing, switching, cloud connectivity and network monitoring technologies
- Experience with Python, PowerShell or other scripting languages
- Experience with REST APIs and network automation
- Experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible
- Experience using version control systems such as Git
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise networking environments, including cloud connectivity and infrastructure technologies, with increasing responsibility for network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and operational improvement initiatives preferred
- Experience leading small/medium projects preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in networking protocols and related communications technologies
- Knowledge of infrastructure design, deployment and support for WTS services
- Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise cloud networking concepts, including hybrid connectivity, VPN technologies, cloud routing and network security
- Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise wireless networking technologies, including wireless LAN architecture, RF fundamentals, controller-based wireless solutions and wireless security
- Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise network monitoring, logging and performance analysis tools used to support proactive network operations and incident response
- Critical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for process improvement and an ability to offer creative solutions
- Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems with various operating system environments
- Familiarity with network automation technologies, scripting languages, APIs and configuration management tools to improve operational efficiency and consistency
- Strong understanding of ITIL service management and project management methodologies
- Ability to work within established governance frameworks, follow change control processes, manage priorities, and contribute effectively to infrastructure projects from planning through implementation
- Proficient in technical documentation and ability to write clear, concise procedural and technical documentation
- Demonstrated communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical users
- Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple competing priorities and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
- Ability to explain the immediate context of the situation, asking questions with follow-up, and soliciting advice prior to taking action when warranted
- Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Strong customer service skills to handle inquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish and maintain relationships with peers, contacts with access to information, and key business partners
- Ability to carry out work off hours as required independently with appropriate guidance and training
