Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)

ABOUT US:

We are a climate controlled Japanese Automotive Parts Manufacturer in the St. Thomas, ON region and are seeking an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) to fulfill the full-time and permanent roles and responsibilities pertaining to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment and machinery.

  1. $35.51/hr starting wage with progression wage increases every 6 months during the first 24 months of employment
  2. Overtime is paid at 1.5x your regular wage after 40 hours each week

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
 
  1. Grade 12 diploma
  2. Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Trade Certificate of Qualification (433A)
  3. 3 to 5 years Manufacturing experience in a Metal Stamping & Welding environment

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY:
 
  1. Assists up on the maintenance of all machinery and equipment inclusive of preventative maintenance, repairs, modifications, and fabrication requirements.
  2. Assists with the orientation/familiarization of new Team Members joining the Machine Maintenance department and assists in the training of new Machine Maintenance Team Members as requested.
  3. Is knowledgeable/proficient in the uses of maintenance tools and equipment, (gauges, mills, lathes, surface grinders, welders, etc.).
  4. Effects repairs of machinery, equipment, and facility at the work station(s) or in the Maintenance area and assists with the repairs of dies when required.
  5. Responds to Team Member inquiries regarding the status of machinery and equipment repairs and/or modifications, and to the fabrication status of ancillary tooling/equipment such as jigs, fixtures, carts, tables, racking, etc.
  6. Assists with the procurement of Machine Maintenance related supplies and services pertaining to machine and equipment maintenance.
  7. Maintains 4S and participates in 4S within the department.
  8. Is trained and certified in the use of forklifts and/or overhead cranes. 


SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
 
  1. Maintain and repair production equipment/machinery (Stamping Presses & Welders)
  2. Install, fabricate and troubleshoot ancillary equipment & tooling
  3. Troubleshoot, adjust, teach and program weld robots
  4. Troubleshoot hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and related plant equipment
  5. Thorough understanding of relevant machinery/equipment including overhead cranes, welding and metal cutting equipment
  6. Ability to read blueprints
  7. Mechanical aptitude with fabrication, welding and machining experience
  8. Conducting preventive maintenance programs and maintaining records
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  10. Excellent interpersonal skills a must
  11. Excellent planning, analytical and organizational skills combined with automotive sense of urgency
  12. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  13. Knowledge of and adherence to all Health & Safety regulations and Safety Codes
  14. Able to work rotating shifts and extended hours as scheduled

RELATIONSHIPS:
 
  1. Interacts daily with all hourly Team Members on shift
  2. Daily interaction with other departments (Weld, Press, etc.)
  3. Accountable to the Machine Maintenance & Facilities Assistant Manager
