Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Division Manager or designate, the position provides ongoing support for Information Technology (IT) systems related to SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems management including installation, configuration and implementation of hardware and systems.
Work Performed:
- Installs, operates and maintains IT systems software and related hardware and administers related contracts. Ensures compatibility of SCADA system hardware, software and communications within the Division.
- Carries out preventative maintenance programs to SCADA related hardware, software and peripherals.
- Performs necessary setup, configurations and upgrades to various IT systems including but not limited to virtualization, storage, backups, firewalls, and network components.
- Reviews and recommends communications requirements, equipment and software for acquisition and replacement.
- Determines logs, escalates and monitors corrective measures in event of SCADA system equipment failures.
- Consults with various third-party providers on corrective actions to system faults.
- Maintains all archival information for various systems components, such as data base backups, switch configurations, Active Directory, and storage area network (SAN).
- Maintains and updates operational manuals and associated procedures.
- Maintains working knowledge of current platforms applicable to the SCADA operation, i.e., Windows Server, Windows.
- Prepares IT related system statistical and status reports. Assists in the interpretation of reports as it relates to condition of systems and potential improvements that may be required to such systems and hardware.
- Provides technical guidance and instruction to users regarding features and uses of IT related hardware and software.
- Performs related duties as assigned, which includes backup for the Water and Wastewater SCADA Systems Administrator.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an Advanced Diploma (3 years) in Computer Systems Technology or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with installed hardware and software.
Experience:
Over five years of related experience.
Specialized Training & Licenses:
Skills and abilities in the following areas are necessary:
- Demonstrated skills in technical writing and technical instruction.
- Cisco Network Certification
- A+ Certification
- IT Security Systems training
- Demonstrated skills in VMware, database, firewall, network administration, Domain Administration.
- Valid Driver's Licence-Class G.
