Educational Assistant

One of Montessori Academy of London's families is looking for an Educational Assistant to support their child in a Lower Elementary classroom at our downtown location (719 Waterloo St.). Approximately 20 hours per week. Please note: Hours are 8:30 am- 11:30 am Monday to Friday. 

WHEN: To start March 23, 2026 – June 2027, with all school holidays and MA PD days off; annual contract position. 

Supporting a child who requires additional assistance. The role includes engaging with the child during class time, providing individualized academic support, and ensuring understanding of lessons. The EA will foster the child’s independence, adapt lessons to meet the child’s individual needs, and create or modify materials to support learning. The role also includes encouraging focus and task completion, guiding the child in following classroom expectations, and promoting an inclusive environment that nurtures a strong sense of belonging within the Montessori community.

The child presents with sensory processing differences, including tactile sensitivity and challenges with gross motor coordination. The child is bilingual (Spanish and English), has delayed speech, and demonstrates moderately low adaptive functioning. The ideal candidate will be patient, responsive, and comfortable implementing strategies that support sensory regulation, communication development, and motor planning within the classroom environment.

SALARY: $18-21 Depending on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:

  • Educational Assistant (EA) certification or diploma
  • Special Education training or coursework
  • Montessori training (AMI, AMS, MACTE, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with teachers and parents
  • Patience, consistency, and the ability to provide structured academic and emotional support
  • Experience working in a Montessori classroom environment is considered an asset.
