Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the co-ordination and assignment of all Departmental activities related to maintenance operations and ensuring that all timing schedules and trades' regulations are adhered to. The Supervisor supports Leadership, Team Leaders and Maintenance personnel by acting as liaison in matters regarding policy application, employee relations, and continuous improvement for processes and productivity. This position carries direct and/or indirect leadership responsibility for approximately 20 employees.          

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: ***THIS ROLE IS AN HOURLY POSITION***

1. Post-secondary education and/or Certificate of Qualification in a skilled trade (Millwright, Electrician, Tool & Die) and 3 years of related work experience

2. 3-5 years Leadership/ Supervisory role

3. Has obtained or working toward MMP certification, PEMAC organization

4. Experience in Material Flow Design in a Tier One automotive environment

5. ERP systems experience, specifically CMS in a manufacturing environment

6. Demonstrated ability to use Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) along with data analysis to drive business objectives and operational excellence

7. Experienced in Lean Implementation (standardized work- 5S, value stream mapping, A3 Method)

8. Must possess human relations skills and maturity of judgment

9. Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, and drive team to reach targets

10. Must possess time management, leadership, strong communication, organizational and presentation skills

11. Demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception to completion

DUTIES:

1. Be responsible and accountable for meeting Presstran and departmental targets and goals. Established targets and goals are being met according to established targets, with no delays or issues

2. Participates in personnel requirements planning, overtime scheduling, coordinating layoffs, etc. Participates in establishing manpower plans and overtime scheduling ensuring that procedures have been followed regarding budgets hours of work etc.. Manpower numbers have been maintained as per established targets (standard manning), proper authorization and processes have been followed when adherence to established targets could not be met. Follows OT equalization and/or authorization policy.

3. Co-ordinates preventative maintenance with tool room/maintenance technical group. and production planner. Preventative maintenance has been completed on scheduled without creating any interruptions or delays

4. Orders materials required for repair, modification, installation, and maintenance of equipment. Abides by Presstran Purchasing Policy

5. Participate in quotations and follow up related to new projects. Assigns competent trade and follows up with inter-department requests.

6. Manages Maintenance E-Maint Program. Every breakdown is entered into E-Maint, uses data to determine proactive courses of action.

7. Ensures that Team Leaders: Regularly monitor scoreboards to observe where issues are occurring, and that they offer assistance and support to team members; Respond to Andon based on the escalation process, involve support groups as required;

8. Follows budget requirements for department labour and spending. Follows spending policies, procedures and guidelines, is either on or under budget in there are of responsibility. 

9. Monitors and shares KPI results with employees to encourage continuous improvement results. KPI's are monitored through daily methods, i.e. first offs, check lists, pattern schedules, etc.

10. Works with employee team to minimize/reduce waste to achieve company objectives.

11. Supports Team Leaders in compliance with; the Presstran Health and Safety/Ergonomic/Environmental  program/procedures; the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation for Industrial Establishments and other relevant Codes and Standards; and participates in performing regular workplace inspections; ensures corrective actions;  leads investigation in serious/critical incident/accidents

12. Other job duties as required.

Equipment:  PC; Various industrial machinery and equipment, various hand tools, aerial work platforms, cranes, forklifts, and office equipment, PC

Software:     MP2, Word Processor, Spreadsheet programs E-Maint

 

RESPONSIBILITY AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Under the general direction of the Department Manager, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks as directed. The Supervisor requires strong organizational and communication skills to exchange, collect, and verify information. The Supervisor will act on behalf of the Assistant Department Manager/Department Manager in their absence. The Supervisor works in an office environment but may be exposed to elements such as noise and temperature during time spent on the plant floor.
