Summary:
Role:
Reporting to a Supervisor, Recreation Services, the Roller Skating DJ enhances the roller skating experience by providing engaging and family-friendly music during public and private skating sessions at City of London facilities. This casual position works as part of a team in a fast-paced, public-facing environment, ensuring public safety through timely PA announcements, smooth music transitions, and an energetic atmosphere that supports a fun and inclusive skating environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide live or pre-mixed music during roller skating sessions, ensuring selections are appropriate for all ages and align with the tone of each event or program.
- Monitor sound levels and equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality audio throughout each session.
- Engage with skaters through music selection, announcements, and occasional interactions to enhance the overall participant experience.
- Set up, test, and take down sound equipment as required, reporting any issues to the Supervisor, Recreation Services.
- Collaborate with facility staff to coordinate music timing with announcements, theme nights, or special activities.
- Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through inclusive music choices and respectful interactions with patrons and staff.
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety in the facility.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a DJ, sound technician, or music entertainer is preferred.
- Familiarity with audio mixing equipment and digital music software.
- Standard First Aid and CPR C (prior to the start of employment).
- Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) (prior to the start of employment).
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with staff and patrons in a friendly, professional manner.
- Ability to read the room and select music that maintains a positive, inclusive, and energetic atmosphere.
- Ability to set up and operate sound systems and troubleshoot basic technical issues.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.

Starting Wage: $18.25
