Through its research, teaching and service, the Faculty of Education strives to nurture children, families and communities both locally, nationally and internationally.  Under the leadership of a new Dean, the Faculty of Education is currently undergoing an exciting period of growth and development; offering innovative Teacher Education as well as a newly designed suite of both research-intensive and professionally-focused graduate programs.   Aboriginal Education, School Based Mental Health and International Education are just a few of the Faculty’s key areas of growth.  The Faculty seeks dynamic and energetic faculty and staff to support these cutting edge programs and important new initiatives. 

Responsibilities
The Development Officer is a key role in the Faculty of Education, and a member of the Faculty and Divisions Development (FDD) team of Alumni Relations and Development.  The incumbent raises philanthropic support by securing and facilitating engagement from Alumni, Corporations, Foundations and Community Members aligned with the mission, vision and values of the faculty.

Qualifications
Education:
  • University Degree; preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation preferred
Experience:
  • 3 years experience in fundraising or a similar revenue-generating role
  • Demonstrated experience leading a fundraising, or revenue-generating portfolio towards multi-million dollar targets
  • Experience in fundraising within a university or other complex non-profit environment preferred
Skills & Expertise:
  • Demonstrated record of program development, implementation and evaluation
  • Experience successfully managing multiple projects from conception to completion within tight prescribed timelines
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on proposal development and presentation to internal and external contacts
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and client/donor relations management software
  • Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, peers and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage activities both for self and others effectively
  • A well defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills
  • Flexible, resourceful, creative and pro-active work style 
  • Emotional intelligence (self-knowledge, self-management, empathy and social skills) to ensure own work-life balance, health and energy are maintained
  • Readiness and willingness to learn and stay informed about fundraising initiatives and the unit's missions and objectives
