Job Description

PHSS Medical and Complex Care in Community is a leading organization that provides tailored support for individuals with diverse and complex needs. We prioritize recognizing the unique attributes of each person we serve, ensuring they receive the individualized care they require. Our mission is to offer an alternative to hospital settings for vulnerable individuals, and with a strong community focus and strategic partnerships, we empower our individuals to experience an enhanced quality of life by living in typical homes and neighborhoods. Our commitment to person-centered care and support, including community integration has transformed the lives of individuals with disabilities, creating an inclusive environment where they can be active decision-makers through empowerment. At PHSS, we are driven by our values of compassion, innovation, and advocacy, ensuring every individual has the freedom to determine their role within their community and receive the support they need to thrive. PHSS operates in multiple locations in Eastern and Southwestern Ontario. PHSS is also a proud partner with Western University researchers in further exploring opportunities to provide innovative care and support in the community.

Prime Management Group Inc. is pleased to be partnering with PHSS in the search for a highly visionary, community-focused, and innovative Executive Lead: Communications and Strategic Initiatives to join their dynamic team. This position will lead PHSS in enhancing the organization's public profile and overall growth as an innovative provider of comprehensive and individualized support services to individuals in the community with medical and complex care needs.

Reporting to the President/CEO, this experienced, skilled, inspiring, and personable leader will spearhead the development, implementation, and evaluation of communications, marketing materials, and the public relationships (PR) strategy by engaging with government, business, non-profit organizations, media, and community stakeholders, both internally and externally. Likewise, the Executive Lead: Communications and Strategic Initiatives will use their expertise in public relations, brand awareness, communications, and marketing to raise PHSS and PHSS’ Foundation profile by promoting programs and initiatives through the generation of engaging and inspirational content that advances both PHSS’ mission and strategic direction. This creative leader will also support the Board’s Communications and Public Relations Committee while informing the CEO and Committee on relevant progress and/or significant challenges on critical initiatives. As a key member of the Executive Lead Team, the successful candidate will help identify obstacles and opportunities facing PHSS and advise on all communication, marketing, and other PR strategies.

This committed champion of strategy and communications will be well-versed in identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic initiatives externally within the health and social care system and internally throughout PHSS. In doing so, the highly collaborative leader will employ an array of internal and external talent to innovate and influence systems while managing a team of direct reports and diverse project members to participate in key strategic initiatives. The Executive Lead: Communications and Strategic Initiatives will have their finger on the pulse of emerging trends, social issues, and strategic opportunities and will create flexible processes and structures to position PHSS as a continued and respected community service provider and employer of choice.

To excel in this role, the growth-oriented and hands-on leader should possess a postgraduate degree or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, Health and Social Care Management, Business Management, Service Delivery, or a related field. Training in brand management, digital media, graphic design, and web content development would also be an asset. The visionary leader will have 5 or more years of experience in the non-profit sector, with demonstrated skills in forward-thinking, “big picture” planning and strategy for health and social care organizations. Additionally, the inspiring Executive Lead: Communications and Strategic Initiatives will bring a wealth of experience working with media and possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a strong aptitude for storytelling, working across diverse digital platforms, and associating with traditional media. Moreover, they will be a skilled relationship builder and utilize their excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships with varied stakeholders and across various networks.

Working in partnership with PHSS, Prime Management Group Inc. will accept all resumes and cover letters from interested candidates in confidence.
