Summary:
The Summer Intern, reporting directly to the General Manager, will provide on-going support with the CFDC’s community economic development projects including a bi-annual business publication, an e-commerce social enterprise and the ‘Main Street Middlesex’ funding and consulting program.
Eligible Candidates:
The position, as described below, is being offered under the Canada Summer Jobs program and is open to students currently registered in a post-secondary Business Administration, Marketing, Business Commerce or similar program and returning to continue studies in September 2015.

Essential Functions:
- Assist with marketing activities to promote the CFDC's "Middlesex Business Matters" magazine;
- Assist in implementation of the "Main Street Middlesex" project, including promotion, administrative support and responding to enquiries, visiting sites and photographing results;
- Implement marketing activities to promote the e-commerce Social Enterprise shop4GOOD.ca program and respond to enquiries from non-profit organizations;
- Promote business and non-profit programs to referral sources and community partners, at tradeshows and other networking events;
- Respond to enquiries from the public about rural business programming, non-profit services and events offered by the CFDC;
- Encourage existing and new partnerships with businesses, community groups, organizations, and service groups in order to strengthen community economic development projects offered by CFDC;
- Complete a program evaluation for the first distribution of Middlesex Matters in order to obtain feedback and identify any potential gaps. The evaluation will be delivered in a summary report to the General Manager at the end of the program;
- Assist with social media and communications related to the CFDC and its activities and services.
Education and Experience:
- Current enrolment in a post-secondary program in Marketing, Business or related field;
- Knowledge of and interest in social enterprises;
- Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint;
- Proficient in use of general office equipment;
- Ability to work independently on several projects concurrently;
- Possess excellent organizational and creative thinking skills;
- Project management experience an asset;
- Travel throughout Middlesex County is required.
Additional Information:
- Hours of work: 33.5 per week (some evening meeting time may be required).
- Access to personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license is mandatory.
- Remuneration $13 per hour + mileage (as applicable)
