Job Description
Transition to Less Waste is participating in a Job Creation Partnership (JCP) with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU). Our goal is to provide meaningful and valuable work experience for participants hired by our nonprofit organization. In order to meet MTCU requirements, job applicants must be unemployed and currently receiving Employment Insurance Benefits, or have received regular EI benefits in the last 3 years or maternity or parental benefits within the last 5 years. Contracts are 42-weeks in length, from the date of hiring.
Researchers/Business Case Developers (Business Development Officer)
The Researchers/Business Case Developers will be responsible for the research and development of social enterprise business plans. They will also be exploring how Transition solutions can be applied to meet community needs, and assisting in development of plans for a showcase home and eco demonstration site. They will be creating well-researched business plans and reports that are complete and ready for implementation.Responsibilites:
- Research and create written reports and verbal presentations
- Development, implementation and analysis of feasibility studies and creation of associated reports and complete business plans
- Development of plans for an eco-friendly building project
Qualifications:
- Ability to efficiently research and create concise associated written reports on given topics
- Experience creating complete business plans
- The ability to read and decipher regulations, bylaws, scientific and engineering documents
- Strong language and analytical skills
- Experience working in non profit social enterprise environment is an asset
- Familiarity with the international Transition Town movement is an asset
- Interest in environmental sustainability and conservation is an asset
- Post secondary education in a relevant field (Ex. Business, Environmental Science) is an asset
- Strong organizational skills
