PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Full Time, up to 4-month Contract

The Sunshine Foundation of Canada (“Sunshine”) is a national children’s charity headquartered in London, ON.  Sunshine exists to help children with disabilities to write a brighter future story from a place of possibility.  Through two different dream delivery programs, Sunshine is able to help build confidence and independence in children aged 7-17. 

You are a vital member of Sunshine’s team providing support to the Program Coordinator in the completion of our dream programs.  As a professional with attention to detail, this role may work directly with children, families, stakeholders and vendors to ensure programs are implemented on time, on budget and that all interactions are flawless, unique and impactful. The health and safety of our staff, donors and dreamers is our top priority. If health restrictions allow, this position will work in the Sunshine Office in London, Ontario. 

Key responsibilities and tasks will include:
  • Maintaining and adhering to program and project work plans
  • Using video conferencing, telephone, and email to communicate with children, families, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and other stakeholders
  • Event coordination and responsibility for assigned projects
  • Ability to negotiate and solicit on behalf of Sunshine in a professional and assertive manner
  • Represent Sunshine at external events as required
  • Maintain Access and Raiser’s Edge databases and produce statistical reports
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet work needs
  • Able to work as a member of a team that may require working outside of your area of responsibility on occasion
  • Performing other duties as assigned

As the successful candidate you will have:
  • Post Secondary education in related field is preferred
  • Exceptional professional communication skills in both official languages strongly preferred
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively to ensure conflicting deadlines are met
  • Tech savvy: Embraces current technologies in everyday life to enhance skills and productivity. A natural, curious user of various platforms/applications, who is adaptable to change and learning
  • Creative problem solver able to perform under pressure and think “outside of the box”
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database an asset
  • Experience in a fast-paced and potentially emotional environment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information to protect the privacy of children and families
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the unique issues and challenges specific to those living with disabilities or life-threatening illnesses
  • Experience working with people from various ethnic and social backgrounds
  • Attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven project management and risk management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to think under pressure
  • Tenacious and pragmatic
  • Valid driver’s license preferred

This position will be filled and paid minimum wage based on Canada Summer Jobs funding being received.
