The London Community Woodshop (LCW), a division of Pathways Skill Development, is a place where woodworkers can experiment, learn new techniques and start a business.  A space where do it yourselfers can work on a project for their home, and volunteers can gather to build community garden boxes. The Woodshop offers workshops led by local artisans and affordable memberships.

LCW is presently recruiting for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to take on the role of the Community Woodshop Summer Assistant. 

Job Description: The Woodshop Assistant will work with our Woodshop Staff and Volunteers to create a welcoming environment of collaboration, expertise and learning.

 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor and maintain safe usage and upkeep of all tools and machinery
  • Develop a supportive culture of learning with a passion for woodworking
  • Provide orientation and information sessions to new and potential participants
  • Ensure proper usage of the machines among community program participants
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and classes to a wide variety of groups and clubs
  • Administer membership policies and practices to ensure an open and fair environment
  • Assist with custom woodworking orders

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Presently enrolled in post-secondary institution or previous experience in either Woodworking, Carpentry or Cabinetry Making
  • Experience and formal training in woodworking and carpentry
  • Passion and ability to transfer knowledge and skills to people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels
  • Experience working from plans and drawings
  • Strong math skills, ability to work with detailed measurements
  • First Aid/CPR is an asset

This position will report to the London Community Woodshop Coordinator.
