Job Description

Downs Barristers & Solicitors is seeking a full-time, experienced litigation assistant to support its litigation team in a fast-paced work environment.  The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented and exceptionally organized with a positive attitude. 
 
The Legal Assistant's duties include:
  • general administrative duties including: filing, file maintenance, and maintaining a diligent bring forward system
  • communicating with clients and other professionals by phone and email
  • drafting correspondence to clients and third parties
  • maintaining the lawyers' calendars and scheduling matters as necessary
  • assisting with preparation of motion records, affidavit of documents, general court documents, and coordinating service and filing of court documents
  • entering dockets and preparing accounts
  • opening and closing files
Your skills include:
  • excellent proofreading skills (ability to check typed material for grammatical, typographical, spelling, word usage and format errors)
  • the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • the ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative
  • strong ability to multi-task
  • excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills
  • are a team player
  • cope well under pressure
  • strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PC Law
