SENIOR PURCHASING SPECIALIST

We require an Senior Purchasing Specialist who will be responsible for: 
  • The timely procurement of materials and products from suppliers at the lowest cost, consistent with considerations for quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Creating purchase orders as requested by all internal departments and ensuring proper authorization for the purchase of products                  
  • Maintain centralized purchasing system                    
  • Place and follow up on orders and their due dates to ensure timely deliveries                          
  • Monitor overdue orders daily                                     
  • Gather and document information that must be relayed to all other team members regarding status of orders, pricing, and delivery schedules                  
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and minimum inventory                   
  • Extract data from the inventory management system (AP+) to assess stock and consumed items                       
  • Sourcing of appropriate vendors in the supply of products for the Company, following Purchasing procedures               
  • Negotiate and track supplier costs               
  • Create and maintain new company data and supplier information in the ERP system
  • Create and maintain new purchasing product articles, and part-supplier relationships in the ERP system
  • Collect and catalogue all SDS sheets from suppliers and ensure they are kept up to date and in compliance with proper format and legislation
  • Complete supplier evaluations/ scorecards
  • Track and maintain records of supplier claims
  • Support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring safety, housekeeping and quality standards are maintained                             
  • Other duties, projects, and tasks as assigned by Manager / Team Leader
                            
Do you have?
  • Post secondary education in purchasing or a related field
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in purchasing or stores management
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite                  
  • Working knowledge in materials management, contracts, purchasing systems, and legal requirements    
  • Oriented to a manufacturing organization   

Successful candidate will also have:
  • Aptitude for customer care and commitment                          
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills                  
  • Ability to appreciate and maintain proper level of confidentiality                        
  • Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail                    
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment                    
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to exchange/collect information and negotiate with varied contacts both internally and externally                
  • Must be able to travel if required                 
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends if required
