Job Description
Since 1949, TVCC has been working with children and youth to help them reach their full potential. Today, a wide range of services and supports are provided for young people with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders to support them in attaining the best available quality of life and health. In partnership with local and regional agencies, TVCC annually serves more than 11,000 children, youth and their families from birth to age 19 across Southwestern Ontario in over 700 locations.
We are currently recruiting for a regular, full-time (37.5 hours per week) Family Engagement Coordinator in the Early Childhood, School Age and Adolescent Program. This is a new position and the successful candidate will report to the Manager, Family and Community Services. The designated office for this position will be London, and travel will be required across all seven counties (Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce). Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

Responsibilities
- Create and facilitate family networking and educational events across TVCC’s regions
- Create and facilitate family participation events across TVCC’s regions, collaborating with Children’s Health Foundation (CHF) or community partners when appropriate
- Create resources and online content for families that will support their participation and engagement with TVCC supports and services
- Respond to parent/caregiver, community, and staff requests for information regarding TVCC services for children and youth with disabilities, making connections to programs or providers as needed
- Build relationships with TVCC families and foster a sense of community and connection at all events
- Co-chair the TVCC Client Advisory Council with a goal to increase participation and engagement
- Support the TVCC Youth Advisory Council, Trailblazers, with recruitment and collaborative opportunities
- Through intentional networking with families, identify people (caregivers and youth) who are interested and able to share their TVCC stories with the TVCC Storyteller program, CHF, and on presentation panels when requested
- Support initiatives from community partners and donors that benefit TVCC families, such as hosting contests and distributing prizes
- Support the family and community focused goals and objectives of the TVCC Strategic Plan, the Quality Improvement Plan, and the LIFT Action Plan
- Two-year diploma in a related field such as, Child and Youth Care, Event Planning, Public Relations or healthcare
- One year of related work experience
- Preference will be given to someone with lived experience with a disability themselves or raising a child with a disability (e.g., physical disability, communication disorder, developmental disability, autism spectrum disorder)
- Demonstrated understanding of childhood disability and family dynamics
- Strong foundation in accessibility, equity, diversity, and inclusion, with an emphasis on intersection with disability
- Broad knowledge of TVCC programs, supports, services, and resources
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary, both oral and written
- Ability to manage multiple projects and demands, and to meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with TVCC staff, families, and community members
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft 365 and videoconferencing software (ex. Teams)
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to travel within London and Southwestern Ontario
- Ability to provide services in French would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
