Columbia Sportswear Canada LP is seeking a Credit Manager 
 
Reporting to the Director of Credit, The Credit Manager is responsible for managing the credit and accounts receivable for Canada. The Credit Manager leads a department to oversee the collection of receivables and mitigate credit risk while ensuring that Columbia can maximize revenue. The Credit Manager assists with timely collections, negotiating and taking security, litigation, and bankruptcy proceedings. The Credit Manager is responsible for resolution of disputes and determining appropriate collection action for problem accounts once collection efforts are exhausted. The Credit Manager analyzes new credit applications, determines credit worthiness and establishes lines of credit, meets with customers to establish relationships, and reviews financial statements or negotiates the resolution of disputes/problems. The Credit Manager monitors industry and customer credit risk on an on-going basis through working with credit reporting agencies, industry credit groups, industry credit professionals, and monitoring economic news sourcesThe Credit Manager continuously monitors the aging of accounts for Canadian customers to ensure adequate actions are being taken. The Credit Manager monitors customer claims to ensue prompt processing of claims, collection of denied claims and resolution of disputed claims. The Credit Manager establishes and maintains authorization limits for Canada. The Credit Manager establishes and maintains close working relationship with Sales, Accounts Operations, and Finance & Operations to ensure the maximization of revenue in conjunction with control of risk, and serves as the company resource on Canadian Credit and Collection topics. The Credit Manager evaluates and determines the adequacy of the Bad Debt Reserve & Chargeback reserve recommending adjustments as required, as well as regularly forecasting these reserves and explaining variances to forecast on a monthly basis, 
 
The successful candidate must possess an understanding of Canadian Retail tax laws and monitor provincial or federal changes; an understanding of Canadian Bankruptcy laws and represent the company and/or process claims; thorough knowledge of financial statement analysis in addition to accounting practices, including accrual accounting methods. The successful candidate must possess strong negotiation, influencing, and business partnering skills; the ability to manage, lead and motivate direct reports. The successful candidate must possess high level problem-solving skills, combined with excellent business judgment and ability to communicate with the management team; excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize projects, and attention to detail. The successful candidate must possess advanced level of computer skills including spreadsheet and word-processing applications; excellent written and verbal communications skills
 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or relevant educational background is required. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a credit environment with increasingly higher levels of responsibility including management level experience, preference for credit experience selling to retailers in the footwear, apparel, or outdoor industry, strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret financial information, and proficiency in an ERP system, preferably in SAP are required.
