We’re a full-service ad agency in London Ontario seeking a creative and professional French translation expert. Your main task will be to translate a variety of subject matter content from English to French (Canada); Emphasis will be focussed on accuracy, quality, consistency, style and audience appropriateness. You’ll be working with a wide range of materials – website copy, print ads, users’ guides, social media and blog posts etc. – for an equally diverse range of clients.
Who You Are
You are a fluent French (Canada) speaker with near-native fluency in English, and a knack for nuance. You can spot a typo at ten paces; you live to find (and fix) “mistakes” in everything you read. You’re comfortable in a large, fast-paced corporate environment, and can work with both introverts and extroverts with tact and understanding. You’re enthusiastic, curious and resourceful. Your organizational skills can only be matched by your attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Translate, proofread/edit for accuracy, clarity and correctness of translations/transcreations
- Ensure that message and meaning are communicated correctly and consistently, and reflect brand’s voice and identity
- Confirm that message and wording is appropriate for audience
- Propose improvements to French copy when required
- Consult on linguistic challenges, and provide expertise
- Ensure that deliverables meet the highest quality standards
- Contribute to a dynamic and engaged corporate culture
Requirements
- Fluent in French (Canada) with an understanding of Quebecois culture and language
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in translation or a related field
- 3+ years of professional translation experience
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving, communications, organizational and relationship-building skills
- Experience working under tight deadlines on multiple projects
- Ability to contribute and collaborate with creative team
- Active interest in building subject matter expertise
- Knowledge of MS Office tools
- Experience in Branding/Marketing or Communication background a plus
