Job Description

Salford Group Inc. is a global manufacturer of farm tillage, application and seeding equipment located south of Ingersoll, Ontario. As a business that supplies the AG industry, deemed an ESSENTIAL Business, Salford continues to operate during the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to continued growth Salford it is currently seeking a fulltime Buyer.  The responsibilities and qualifications are as outlined below.

Buyer Job Duties
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels of materials in order to supply production in a timely manner and sufficient quality
  • Manage audit process to ensure materials are aligned with approved products and suppliers
  • Focus on meeting all cost and delivery metrics time lines as assigned
  • Work in collaboration with all stakeholders in order to continuously improve product lines
  • Ensure regular communication with internal and external contacts as required such as sales, engineering, suppliers, etc.
  • Process purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders in accordance to company procedures by applying reasonability and big picture thinking beyond the administrative action
  • Expedite supplier shipments, be pro-active and resolve potential delays using forward thinking
  • Review quotations for specification compliance and submit for approval
  • Aid in the receiving process and closing purchase orders
  • Process Non-conforming supplier shipments and coordinate supplier RMA’s.
  • Perform cost comparisons and identify cost savings opportunities. Play an active role in cost saving initiatives as directed by Purchasing Manager.

Qualifications and Skills
 
  • The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of successful procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an agricultural or heaving equipment sector or within a fabrication shop.
  • Must have experience purchasing steel, specialty steel materials, raw steel.
  • Having a Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration or Materials Management or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications would be an asset
  • The ideal candidate will have 2 years experience using procurement systems such as SAP or similar MRP systems
  • Experience or knowledge of farming equipment an asset
  • Proven performance applying strategic materials management as directed
  • Ability to manager problems and develop action plans
  • Mastery of customer service and relationship building.
  • Effective oral and written communication to enhance a professional company image.
  • Self-driven with a high work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills with an ability to prioritize.
  • Effective computer skills in Microsoft suite, Outlook, Internet and other internal systems
  • Must have daily transportation
