Reports to Operations Manager
The Company At Ontario Plants Propagation Limited, our vision is to be Eastern North America’s premier supplier of greenhouse vegetable transplants. In order to help us accomplish this goal, we need to hire motivated passionate people that will support our workforce and facilities. We are seeking an individual to join our Workforce team to support with daily schedule preparation, transportation arrangements, employee training and working side by side with a team of greenhouse labourers.
Assist with daily labour schedule preparation.
Monitor the performance of a team of greenhouse labourer employees.
Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and legally compliant workplace.
Maintain established methods to meet work schedules and support work activities with other departments.
Resolve work challenges and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
Support production plans by providing information to ensure that production objectives are met.
Follow and monitor compliance with company policies and procedures.
Order materials and supplies to maintain inventory levels.
Assist with greenhouse staff training.
Assist with ensuring established expectations are communicated and followed.
Plan for manpower and equipment needs.
Maintain employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
Operate various types of equipment as required.
Support quality and productivity improvement initiatives.
Assist with identifying and determining the quality and productivity-related problems and solutions.
Assist with developing team and individual employee skills and performance through the effective use of on-going coaching, training, and progressive counseling.
Assist with booking transportation arrangements for workers.
Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
College diploma in a related field preferred (Horticulture or Agricultural studies).
1-2 years experience Team Lead.
Experience in the greenhouse industry an asset.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to create logically ordered objectives.
Ability to stay informed and up to date with changes in technology, code and workplace compliance.
Excellent manual dexterity.
Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
A high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to motivate and attain positive results from employees and teams is a must.
Must possess advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, and Excel.
Superior interpersonal skills within a team environment are essential to this position.
Physical Location/Working Conditions
Greenhouse environment in a rural area, own transportation required;
Repetitive tasks, a combination of standing, bending, walking, crouching
$17- $19 per hour, 35– 55 hours per week, shifts may vary between day and evening
