Our client, an established local success story in London, Ontario, is seeking an analytical, dynamic Accounting Specialist to join their progressive, forward-thinking team! (Some work from home potential).
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Specialist will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Accounting team and performing day-to-day accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting and administrative functions as assigned. The position will also be responsible for accurately processing the payroll for all employees and reporting on a weekly and bi-weekly basis.
In addition, the Accounting Specialist will process pre-approved salary increases, bonuses and commissions, according to instructions; prepare cheque requests for garnishments, WSIB etc.; and assist with reconciling and administrating various employee benefits or programs, as needed. This position will also generate month-end reports and assist other members of the Finance team in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings. Moreover, this out-of-the-box thinker will review, implement, and seek to continually improve payroll processes and procedures, regularly auditing workflow and recommending new approaches to establish accounting best practices.
To qualify for this opportunity, the successful candidate will have a degree/diploma in accounting, a related program of study, or equivalent experience coupled with 5+ years’ experience in payroll administration and accounts payable. This individual will have previous experience processing a high volume of invoices per month (500+) as well as managing an entire purchasing flow from start to finish. As a strong communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills, this accounting professional will effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining a flexible, growth mindset to manage key accounting priorities. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, working with a high degree of accuracy as well as making sound decisions. Advanced proficiency with MS Office software especially with Excel will be critical to this role and experience with accounting software and automated payroll systems are required.
