This position is anticipated for a period of one year, subject to availability of work and funding.
 
Southwestern Public Health is looking to recruit a new temporary full time Wellness Specialist to help support engagement, recognition, and employee wellness through our COVID-19 response. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, Southwestern Public Health is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed and innovative professional who is able to hit the ground running.  This role would be responsible for the implementation of the SWPH Wellness Strategy by delivering on the objectives and supporting the strategic priorities of the Wellness Framework. The Wellness Specialist engages with employees to plan, implement and evaluate further strategies to continue to positively influence workplace culture, resulting in increased employee wellness. As a successful candidate, you will be an energetic individual who wants to learn, and you are someone who welcomes challenges.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related human resource management, wellness, organizational development, education field of study from a post-secondary education institution that is recognized by the province of Ontario.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working to promote wellness initiatives, culture and employee engagement in a complex unionized environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a wide range of professionals.
  • Proven ability to be a team player while leading and providing guidance and consultation to health unit leadership.
  • Ability to promote the values of shared leadership and team collaboration.
  • Proven ability to build positive and productive relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communicator with skills in written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to make a strong commitment to working in and maintaining a confidential environment.
  • Demonstrates sound decision-making skills, excellent judgement, and assessment skills.
  • A criminal reference check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate.
