Job Description
3M is seeking a Category Development Specialist for its Consumer Business Group team located in London, ON or remotely in the London-Toronto corridor. The successful candidate will make an impact by bridging business strategies and priorities with Canada Account sales dynamics to drive profitable volume growth. This person will be responsible for the execution of the Canada operating plan for the Scotch® portfolios, working closely with the Area Portfolio Leader, business team, and sales organizations to execute comprehensive category and channel management strategies that generate value for 3M and our customers, while driving business priorities and strategies.
Candidates can work from home or the London, ON office (or a combination of both) as COVID restrictions shift.

Main Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary conduit between accounts and the area business team
- Effectively analyze input from key customers, demand planners, and point of sale data systems to coordinate and execute against sales objectives, improving forecast accuracy and ultimately service to our customers
- Execute channel strategy to drive profitable volume growth and advance business priorities (portfolio, pricing, promotion, placement)
- Manage price, portfolio, product, and promotions across defined channels and accounts within established guidelines
- Ensure alignment of Area Marketing plans (new products, seasonal promotions, advertising) to customer calendars on a rolling 12-month planning cycle
- Analyze effectiveness of in-market programs/strategies and report results to stakeholders
To set you up for success in this role from Day 1, 3M requires (at minimum) the following qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years sales, marketing, or category management experience
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Experience in the consumer-packaged goods industry
- Experience managing a National Key Account Business
- Proficient at PowerPoint, Excel, Numerator, Power BI, Syndicated Data
- Proficient communicator who can generate buy-in cross-functionally to solve complex challenges
- Persuasive speaker/presenter comfortable with demanding situations and delicate subject matter
