Job Description

Job Summary:

The student will support individuals on placement and/or new hires, and employers.  They will network to elicit internships, placements (paid and unpaid), unadvertised employment opportunities, orders for job vacancies, and promote diversity in the workplace. 

This is a Canada Summer Jobs Funded Position for a period of 16-weeks @ 37.5 hours/week.  Rate of pay is $14.25/hour.
 
Eligible Students must be:
(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
(b) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
(c) legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.


 
Essential Job Functions:
  • become familiar with local labour market information
  • assist individuals to obtain a job that is appropriate based on their abilities and desires
  • meet with employers strengthen partnerships and/or forge new ones
  • determine employer requirements and record/store/file meeting notes
  • search digital job opportunities on a weekly basis, and post/disseminate advertised and unadvertised job opportunities to staff, volunteers, clients, and on social media/website
  • seek out opportunities for previously non-existent jobs based on gaps discovered during needs analysis and discussions with employers
  • negotiate accommodation plans
  • Provide support for Nokee Kwe’s virtual job/career fairs
  • Match employers and candidates
  • complete, file and store all relevant documentation/paperwork related to clients/employers
  • update and maintain applicant’s/employers’ records
  • support clients/employers to secure and retain job and advance in work settings
  • be able to discuss all Nokee Kwe’s programs and services in a competent manner, and provide weekly reports
Educational and Experiential Requirements:

Post-Secondary graduate and/or current student in one of the following programs:
  • Business
  • Sales
  • Marketing
  • Human Resources
  • Project Management
  • Social Services
  • Career Development
