Position Summary
The Application Specialist serves as the scientific and technical expert for Scintica's preclinical optical imaging and DEXA product portfolios. This role focuses on helping researchers successfully implement imaging technologies into their research programs through scientific consultation, demonstrations, training, workflow optimization, and ongoing application support.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers throughout their journey, from technical evaluation and demonstration through installation, training, and long-term application support. This is an ideal opportunity for a someone with hands-on experience in small animal imaging who enjoys collaborating with researchers and helping advance scientific discovery.

Scientific and Technical Expertise
- Serve as the subject matter expert for optical bioluminescence/fluorescence imaging and DEXA imaging technologies.
- Consult with researchers to understand experimental objectives and recommend appropriate imaging methodologies and workflows.
- Assist customers in developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting imaging protocols for preclinical research applications.
- Provide guidance on study design, image acquisition parameters, data analysis, and interpretation of results.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging imaging techniques, applications, and relevant scientific literature.
- Plan and conduct high-quality on-site and virtual product demonstrations tailored to customer research objectives.
- Design demonstration studies that showcase scientific capabilities relevant to customer applications.
- Support instrument evaluations and proof-of-concept studies with prospective customers.
- Collaborate with sales teams during technical evaluations by providing scientific expertise and application guidance.
- Lead customer onboarding activities including system installation support, user training, and workflow implementation.
- Deliver comprehensive training programs for researchers, technicians, and laboratory staff.
- Provide ongoing post-installation application support to maximize user adoption and instrument utilization.
- Troubleshoot technical and application-related challenges remotely and on-site.
- Develop educational resources, application notes, and best-practice documentation.
- Build strong relationships with researchers, core facility managers, and key opinion leaders.
- Represent Scintica at scientific conferences, workshops, user meetings, and educational events.
- Support the development of webinars, scientific presentations, and educational content.
- Gather customer feedback and collaborate with product management and manufacturing partners to improve products and user experience.
- Partner with sales, service, and product management teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
- Assist with technical proposal development and application-related responses during the sales process.
- Support international distributors with application training and scientific expertise when required.
Required
- MSc or PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with preclinical small animal imaging and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of mouse anatomy, physiology, and experimental design.
- Experience with animal handling, anaesthesia, and preclinical research procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to researchers and technical audiences.
- Excellent presentation, training, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 40-50% throughout North America.
- Experience with optical bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging systems.
- Experience with DEXA or other preclinical imaging modalities.
- Knowledge of oncology, cardiometabolic disease, neuroscience, or developmental biology research models.
- Experience supporting researchers in academic, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environments.
- Previous experience in scientific applications support, field applications, core laboratory management, or technical training.
- Scientific curiosity and passion for advancing biomedical research.
