Human Resources Business Partner (Full-Time)

Our ideal candidate brings demonstrated HR generalist experience and exceptional interpersonal skills to this exciting and dynamic opportunity to join our team in London, supporting our London, Sarnia, and Kitchener facilities.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Business Partner supports the Management Teams in their stores and provides backup to other HR Business Partners as needed. This position will work collaboratively as part of the HR Team to carry out HR projects and initiatives and will support our employees across the organization.

You will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with the management team to understand business objectives and identify corresponding human resource needs, and executing human resource strategy to support business objectives
  • Ensuring all Human Resources procedures are being followed and applied correctly, and that practices are consistent with legislation and any applicable Collective Agreements
  • Supporting the overall recruitment strategy to identify and understand workforce needs and participate in full cycle recruitment by screening resumes, scheduling/assisting with interviews, completing background check processes, preparing offer letters and maintaining the Applicant Tracking System
  • Participating in the delivery of new hire Orientation and keeping information current and up to date as required
  • Partnering with management to develop programs that support employee engagement and retention
  • Counseling and supporting management in the areas of labour/employee relations, and ensuring compliance with legislation and applicable Collective Agreements
  • Mediating and resolving employee/labour relations disputes as necessary, conducting investigations and leading positive employee relations interventions, as required
  • Coordinating Health and Safety programs in all locations, maintaining Health & Safety records and communication boards, providing support to the Joint Health and Safety Committee(s), and ensuring an effective Internal Responsibility System
  • Administering company health, welfare, pension and reward plans, including providing support to employees with related queries/investigations
  • Responsible for updating HRIS, including new hire documentation and employment status changes and processing required documents to ensure accurate record keeping and payroll data
  • Monitoring and maintaining the integrity of HR systems, employee files and third party information
  • Completing and distributing reports as required
  • Supporting the Human Resources department in all activities, projects and initiatives

Other qualifications include:

  • A college diploma or university degree in Human Resources, or combination of similar education and work experience required
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset
  • 3-5 years HR Generalist experience
  • Experience working in a retail or manufacturing environment, as well experience working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of HR legislation and practices, including Employment Standards, Human Rights, and health and safety legislation
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment along with the aptitude to handle multiple priorities in order to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail is a must
  • Results oriented and proactive
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills to effectively deal with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment and diplomacy, as well as maintain confidence
  • Customer focused with strong relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, as well as effective listening skills
  • Advanced computer skills including experience using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) as well as HR software (ADP an asset)

Travel:

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time between London, Sarnia and Kitchener, and sometimes to other locations.
