Job Description
YARD SUPPORT PERSON
Dowler-Karn Limited, a leading Southwestern Ontario propane and fuel distributor, has an immediate opening for a permanent fulltime Yard Support person for its St. Thomas branch. The successful candidate will report to the Fleet, Service & Capital Assets Manager, but will receive daily task instruction and assignment from the Yard Support Lead Hand.
The following qualifications and skills are a prerequisite:
- Minimum Grade 12 high school diploma
- Possess a valid, clean and current driver’s license
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Must have strong organizational skills
- Experience with lift trucks, tractors and other equipment would be preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks when necessary
- Assist the service department, truck shop and/or Lubes Distribution Centre as needed
*** A DZ license would be considered a benefit but is not required ***
Among the duties to be fulfilled are the following:
- Customer service functions - oversee propane dispenser
- Inspect and fill propane cylinders and recertification
- Facility maintenance, including yard sweeping and snow removal
- Rinse returned fuel tanks, remove pumps and fittings, take them to the scrap yard
- Stock shelves
- Run errands
- Unload and put away tanks
- Retrieve tanks and other materials and bring to the service area for prep
- Other duties as assigned
