Job Description

LeClair & Associates Professional Corporation, a busy London law firm that specializes exclusively in the management side of Labour and Employment law, is currently seeking an enthusiastic and hard-working Jr. Litigation Assistant/Law Clerk to join our firm on a full-time, permanent basis.  Our practice encompasses working with many employers from both the private and public sector.  The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive salary, plus benefits.  This role represents a great opportunity to develop your career within a challenging and professional environment.  
  
Key Responsibilities Include: 
  • Completing administrative duties such as making copies, filing, scheduling meetings, and communicating with counsel, clients, and court staff.
  • Opening, organizing, managing, and closing client files.
  • Maintaining file organization, including a bring forward system, calendars, and electronic filing.
  • Recording, scheduling, and managing court deadlines. 
  • Preparing and transcribing from dictation letters, court documents, etc.
  • Managing legal documents and correspondence in strict confidence.
  • Inputting daily time dockets.
  • Processing all incoming mail and records.
  • Drafting outgoing correspondence to counsel, clients, courts, tribunals, etc.
  • Drafting, serving, and filing court documents such as Pleadings, Notice of Examinations, Affidavit of Documents, etc.
  • Preparing briefs.

Qualifications
  • Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk Diploma from accredited Ontario College.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant/Law Clerk in a law firm. 
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite 365, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with CosmoLex a bonus (not required).
  • Positive attitude with excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work productivity in a time-sensitive and fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to take direction and work independently with little or no supervision. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and superior organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible.
