Salary:                                    $89,785 (Starting) to $108,573 (at 30 months)
                       
Position Summary:  

Fleet Service Technicians report to the Supervisor, Fleet Outfit and Maintenance, and are responsible for the repair, maintenance, outfitting, and modifications of all London Police Service (LPS) vehicles and related equipment. Fleet Service Technicians work independently or as a team in a high traffic service environment to provide ready for service equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on all London Police Service (LPS) fleet equipment on and off site.
  • Perform conversions, inspections, and maintenance to propane fuel systems for fleet equipment.
  • Complete workorders and record inspections and repairs.
  • Assist with identification of equipment components and supplies required and report all usage.
  • Outfit and modify vehicles and assets with complex emergency response equipment.
  • Perform road tests on vehicles after repair to ensure proper operation.
  • Respond to service calls off site as required.
  • Fabricate components required for operation which may involve welding, cutting, and altering multi source materials.
  • Perform safety inspections where required and complete corresponding certificates/stickers.
  • Maintain a safe work environment free from hazards affecting yourself and others.
  • Ensure LPS vehicles and storage locations are secured.
  • Communicate with all members for operations and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.\
Requirements
  • Automotive Service Technician 310S and/or Truck and Coach Technician 310T Designation.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License.
  • Valid registration with skilled trades Ontario.
  • Current certification in the Ozone Depletion Prevention program an asset.
  • Acquire ICE-P propane license within 1 year of employment.
  • 3-4 years of related experience.
