JOB TITLE: Special Events Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Events & Volunteer Specialist

WORK TYPE/LOCATION: In Person / In Office-London ON/35 hrs per week for 8 weeks at $18/hr/Canada Summer Jobs Program
START-June/2025


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Special Events Coordinator will enhance the success of Walk for Parkinson’s, our largest yearly fundraiser, through the following tasks:

• Contacting all past participants to ensure they received the walk brochure, and provide them with information about the event
• Assist participants who experience challenges in navigating our online registration system
• Contacting all Long Term Care and Retirement Residences to provide information on how to get involved in walks through LTC Challenge
• Following up with past sponsors to engage them once again in current year and researching prospective sponsors
• Solicit prizes from local businesses for silent auction and raffles, coordinate the pick up of items, and prepare bid sheets
• Work with local committees & volunteers on the planning of walk logistics and keep accurate minutes of such meetings
• Assisting with marketing of the event through: distribution of posters and pledge forms through the local community, partners, and health care agencies; arranging for mobile signs; sending prepared ads out to local media outlets; creating and editing social media posts; creating run sheets for the event.
• Prepare invitations for local dignitaries to attend the walk events
• Recording all interactions with clients, community members and stakeholders in Raiser’s Edge database

  • Problem-solving - Problem-solving refers to the ability to identify, analyze, propose solutions, and make decisions. Problem solving helps you to address issues, monitor success, and learn from the experience. For example, we use this skill to make hiring decisions, select courses of action and troubleshoot technical failures.
