Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant

Major Tax and Accounting, CPA is a small firm in London, ON, that specializes in serving small businesses by offering bookkeeping, accounting, and tax services. We are growing and are hiring a full-time Staff Accountant to join the team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO?
 

  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements
  • Calculate and prepare payments for payrolls, utility, tax, and other bills
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents
  • Preparation of accounting working paper file
  • Full cycle data entry
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
  • Prepare working paper
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Prepare corporate tax return
  • Preparer personal tax return
  • Administrative Support
  • Answer incoming calls, direct calls to the appropriate staff, answering general inquiries
  • Greet clients, receive and collect documents from clients
  • Clerical duties - collect payments from clients; package client's documents

DO YOU HAVE?
 
  • Completion of a 2-year College Diploma and/or University Diploma in Accounting.
  • 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (i.e. Quickbooks, Xero, Sage 50, Caseware, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software (i.e. Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Good time management skills to manage various competitive deadlines and to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends during tax season.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment.
