At CARFAX, we believe in the power of teamwork and value in-person interactions so that we can collaborate and thrive together. This position will require 2 days per week in our London,ON office subject to change with future business needs.

A typical day will have you:

  • Working closely with teams to design best fit solutions to business and technical challenges.
  • Providing experienced leadership and technical direction to software engineering teams.
  • Collaborating to define and maintain the standards that we hold for our systems and components.
  • Improving the discoverability of our systems through diagrams, documentation, and surfacing metadata.
  • Improving the efficiency of building and maintaining our components through automation and enablement.
  • Reviewing existing architectures to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Contributing to tutorials, presentations, and workshops to spread knowledge.

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in software design and development of complex systems.
  • Excellent Leadership, Interpersonal, Communication, and Collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional Problem-solving and Conflict Resolution skills (technical & human).
  • Passionate about Learning and Inspiring/Coaching others.
  • Creative, "Big Picture" Thinker.
  • Previous working experience with a broad range of AWS services.
  • Experience performing trade-off analysis to inform decision-making processes.
  • Knowledge of Full Stack software development.
  • Experience with Back-End languages (such as Java, Kotlin, C#, Go and Python).
  • Experience with Front-End languages (such as JavaScript, Node.js, Typescript, HTML5 and CSS3).
  • Experience with modern front-end JavaScript Libraries (such as Reactjs, Vue or Angular).
  • Experience with client/server architecture and building APIs and services using REST or GraphQL.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and BigData is an advantage.
  • Experience with Relational and NoSQL database systems (such as MySQL, Mongo, DynamoDB or Elasticsearch).
  • Experienced with developing in AWS cloud environment.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Delivery such as Gitlab CI/CD
  • Experience with Containerization (such as Docker).
  • Experience with application monitoring and alerting systems and standards (such as New Relic, OTEL, CloudWatch, ITIL, Prometheus, PagerDuty).
  • Knowledge of microservices architectural pattern.
  • Experienced with full SDLC development including design, building, testing, deployment, upgrade and support.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a matrix team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to provide leadership and mentor engineers through complicated technical challenges.
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with diverse architectural patterns and best practices.
  • Experience with OAuth2.0, OIDC, or other modern authentication frameworks and conventions.
  • Experience with architecture to support SEO and Site Speed.
  • Experience with A/B testing.
  • Supported large-scale, common applications or services in multiple markets and time zones and languages (e.g. Canada).
  • Experience with software development using AI Coding Toolsets (such as Co-Pilot, Claude Code) and AI SDLC Frameworks (such as AIDLC).

Vacancy Status:
This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Base Salary:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is CAD $114,000 to $164,000 annually. Final base salary will be determined based on geographical location, experience, and qualifications.
