PLC/Fab Control Technician

Salary: $35 to $47 / hr

HCR Permanent Search is working with a world class manufacturing company in St. Thomas who has asked for us to assist them to find 3 PLC/Fab Control Technicians . Job details are as follow:

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and modify PLC systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens S7-300/400, Beckhoff TwinCAT).
  • Perform PLC diagnostics, I/O checks, program updates, and system backups following change management procedures.
  • Support and troubleshoot HMI systems (Rockwell and Siemens WinCC), ensuring reliable PLC communication.
  • Diagnose and optimize motion control systems, including VFDs, DC drives, and servo drives (Siemens, SEW, Rexroth).
  • Configure and troubleshoot vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) to meet quality and inspection standards.
  • Provide controls support for hydraulic press systems, including sensors, safety interlocks, and control loops.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues and improve system reliability.
  • Support automation projects, Fanuc robots (basic troubleshooting and I/O), and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in automation, controls maintenance, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC systems (Rockwell, Siemens S7, Beckhoff) and programming tools (Step 7, TwinCAT).
  • Experience with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherCAT).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder logic, and troubleshoot control systems.
  • Familiarity with motion control, servo tuning, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of Fanuc robotics and machine safety systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
