Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Planning, Energy and Assets, the Manager, Corporate Energy is responsible for leading the corporation's energy management and sustainability initiatives primarily for corporate assets managed by the Fleet and Facilities Division. The position advances energy conservation and renewable energy programs and projects, supports utility procurement, manages energy data, secures funding opportunities, and ensures regulatory compliance to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the corporation's asset portfolio.

Work Performed:

• Provide leadership in the development and administration of corporate energy management programs and services that contribute to strategic initiatives that align with Council's Strategic Plan.
• Manage employees, including hiring, coaching, administration and performance. Respond to confidential human resources matters as required and support employee development and engagement.
• Establish and coordinate green energy/renewable energy programs; assist with monitoring emission credits for future trading and research and secure funding for energy improvement projects.
• Provide information and data required to negotiate for the procurement of utilities.
• Lead the energy management component of asset management and retrofit projects by identifying and advancing energy conservation opportunities, monitoring energy savings performance, supporting grant funding applications, and ensuring compliance with all grant reporting and documentation requirements.
• Coordinate and administer the Corporate utility data collection, processing and analysis in the Corporation's EnergyCAP software while ensuring the timely, efficient and accurate processing and approval for payment of the monthly corporate utility bills.
• Maintain energy management expertise and provide advice, updates, and recommendations to external and internal partners on corporate priorities and initiatives.
• Assist with corporate projects related to conservation activities in the areas of waste, recycling, water, and transportation and procurement practices.
• Demonstrate commitment and promotion of anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights in all operations, policies and programs.
• Promote and adhere to health and safety legislation and foster a culture of safety with direct reports.
• Establish, monitor, recommend and report on internal controls to mitigate risks of the Corporation related to energy management to ensure compliance with corporate and provincial requirements.
• Promote and foster working relationships with employees and bargaining units to provide a fair and consistent application of provisions within the collective agreement.
• Collaborate across Divisions and Service Areas to support enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Prepare Council and Committee reports including annual reporting; respond to public, media, and Councillor inquiries as requested by the Manager, Facilities Planning, Energy and Assets.
• Recommend and implement innovative, efficient service delivery practices, including overseeing the portfolio of building automation systems and corporate conservation activities for the City of London facilities.
• Implement strategies to track performance using data and analytics.
• Follow procurement policies and delegate approval authority as appropriate.
• Provide input into the development of capital and operating budgets, and recommend and assist with the preparation of tenders and contracts related to Fleet and Facilities priorities and initiatives
• Represent the Service Area at Council meetings, Standing Committee meetings, and legal proceedings as required.
• Participate on external boards and committees to move forward common goals, build relationships, and share best practices.
• Assist with developing and delivering education/training sessions and community outreach relating to energy awareness, conservation and related programs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Completion of an Advanced Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Building Science, Energy Management or in a relevant area of study or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Five to seven years related experience in power and energy industry including management responsibilities.
• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation from the Association of Energy Engineers, or eligibility to obtain the designation within six months of employment.

Compensation & Other Information:

$92,161 - $120,891

This posting is for one (1) permanent full-time position being filled on a permanent basis.

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.
