Injection Molding Process Engineer

Reporting to Technical Applications Manager, this position is responsible for supporting technical requirements associated with silicone injection molding processes; tooling, equipment, programming and robotics with a focus on new project launches, continuous improvement initiatives, claims resolution and training.

 

We require an Injection Molding Process Engineer who will be responsible for:

  • The training and development of the OTA department to increase employee knowledge, skills, and retention.
  • Ensuring the efficient operation of Injection Molding process to support the production work schedule.
  • Support OTA Manager as liaison with Starlim Austria as required.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Support new project launches with tool transfer and validation activities.
  • Establish optimal molding processes on new and existing tooling with an emphasis on zero defects and meeting customer requirements based to the process developed in Austria.
  • Support deprtment Manager with tool improvements and modification activities with Starlim Austria & Sterner business unit.
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives as assigned by department Manager.
  • Support QM department with customer complaint resolution.
  • Conduct test runs for material sampling of new or experimental silicones.
  • Training all new and existing employees in the Technical Applications department.
  • Schedule and administer training and development exams for all employees, and update and maintain the raining and development system database and training records.
  • Ensure all completed training is properly documented and filed according to Human Resources requirements.
  • Review and maintain current work instructions, and training materials to ensure consistency with department.
  • Communicate and train the Technical Applications team on any changes or updates to work instructions and ensure necessary documentation is completed.
  • Act as a first point of contact for any training related questions and offer assistance and information.
  • Review all safety rules, procedures and PPE with team members and ensure they are compliant during training.
  • Assist department Manager with TIG Authentig files and data analysis as required
  • Set up new molds and carry out complete mold change overs
  • Utilize measuring equipment, tools, and gauges as required
  • Assemble, set up, and program tooling, machinery and equipment

 

Do you have?

  • College Diploma or Technical apprenticeship
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in fully automatic injection molding in a manufacturing organization
  • Experience with Quality System Requirements, such as ISO 9001, TS 16949, ISO 13485 and APQP

 

Successful candidate will also have:

  • Experience with customer complaint (8D).
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment
  • Advance knowledge of engineering terminology, liquid injection molding processes, tooling, and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Above average technical understanding and willing to learn new processes and concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to understand product measurements and correlate them to process adjustments.
  • Experience and understanding of process change management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Crane / hoist certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must be able to work overtime when required.
