Position: Customer Account Representative (Sales) - Lubricants Specialist
 
Description:
Dowler-Karn Limited, the Mobil branded regional distributor for Southwestern Ontario and a leader in the fuels and propane industry, is poised for future growth and is seeking dedicated, fulltime Customer Account Representatives to promote its line of world class Mobil lubricants. Anticipated to be based out of our Lubricant Distribution Centre in St Thomas, these new positions will work with our current product specialists, the lubricants customer service team, other multi-product territorial reps., and branch staff throughout the region in providing high value products and exceptional service to a wide range of customers in the agricultural, industrial, and commercial market segments. By presenting winning solutions, the successful candidates will be tackling sales leads, following up on referrals, maintaining current relationships, and implementing strategic company programs to support current and future business opportunities.  
 
Qualifications:
 
To be considered for this excellent career opportunity within a successful and growing third generation owned family business, interested candidates should have the following qualifications:
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma (business and or technical degree preferred) or equivalent experience in an automotive and/or industrial lubricant/chemical based industry is preferred. Experience in the petroleum industry would be considered an asset.  
  • A minimum of five (5) years of sales experience with 2 to 4 years of account management experience.  
  • Must be self-directed and possess excellent time management skills. This includes the ability to work independently with a strong sense of motivation to succeed in a very competitive marketplace. 
  • A strong aptitude and computer proficiency (Microsoft Office) is necessary, as is a willingness to work in both office and, more often, external environments. By extension, a clean driving record is a necessity.  
  • A willingness to work flexible hours when needed. On an as needed basis, you may be required to attend after-hours industry events to promote products and increase visibility. As well charity and community engagement may also be requested.  
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills as well as selling and negotiation skills are key attributes. Good customer service and communication skills are required. Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing is critical, as is proposal writing and engaging presentation skills. Delivering technical and commercial solutions for targeted customers will be a key job task. 
  • As a quick learner, an understanding of the distributor business including Fuels, Propane and Lubricants will be developed as will the required expertise in conventional and synthetic based lubricants and their applications. The ability to learn and apply correct technical information in a sales environment is critical for success. 
  • Knowledge of all market segments in South Western Ontario and associated machinery applications prevalent in this market will be a focus as will the ability to analyze the marketplace to determine strengths and weaknesses of the competition. 
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail is critical in understand OEM approvals to provide accurate lubricant recommendations. Keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and product/technical developments is crucial to maintaining a competitive advantage.  
  • An enthusiastic appreciation for the value of the sales process and a good CRM is important. Proven experience in prospecting and soliciting new business to bringing them to close is key as is the maintenance of existing internal and external customer satisfaction. As a point of contact and support, this role will communicate price and product changes to customers as required.
