Property Maintenance/Custodian
Job Summary: The Property Maintenance/Custodian is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of the church and surrounding property. This role involves routine cleaning, minor repairs, and general upkeep to ensure the facility remains in excellent condition for congregation, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities: Cleaning & Sanitation: Perform regular cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and waste removal in common areas, washrooms, and offices. Clean windows, doors, walls, and fixtures as required. Replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of the property and report issues to management. Complete basic maintenance tasks including changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, minor plumbing, and painting touch-ups. Assist with snow removal and salting of walkways during winter months. Perform minor carpentry and repair work as needed. Safety & Security: Ensure all entryways and emergency exits are unobstructed and secure. Monitor building systems and report any hazards or safety concerns. Follow all workplace safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. General Duties: Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for events or meetings. Respond promptly to tenant/staff service requests. Maintain custodial inventory and notify supervisor when supplies need replenishing. Collaborate with contractors or vendors when more complex maintenance is required. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair techniques. Ability to operate and maintain custodial equipment (e.g., floor buffer, wet vac, etc.). Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform manual labor. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions. May require evening or weekend shifts, depending on facility needs. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and tools.
