The HR Generalist will play a critical role in partnering with the Director, HR, in providing guidance and support on a wide range of strategic and operational HR issues. This position requires a data-driven, analytical, collaborative and influential human resources professional who has phenomenal people skills with a critical focus on the care and development of our employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The HR Generalist will serve as a strategic partner to the HR Manager as well as studio managers,
driving people strategies and operational excellence across the organization.
I. Strategic Partnership & Organizational Effectiveness
- Drive and support organizational design and workforce planning initiatives to
ensure the studio is structured optimally for current and future game projects and
rapid team scaling. - Run cyclical HR programs including performance management, talent reviews,
and succession planning. - Assist in managing effective career pathing and development plans that support
continuous growth and retention of top talent in the game industry. - Analyze HR metrics (e.g., turnover, engagement, time-to-hire) to identify trends
and develop data-driven solutions that improve employee experience and
business results.
II. Compensation, Benefits, and Compliance
- Work closely with the Compensation team to ensure competitive and equitable
pay practices, utilizing industry benchmarks for specific gaming roles. - Communicate and administer company benefits programs, ensuring employees
fully understand their total rewards package. - Serve as the subject matter expert on HR law and employment regulations for
both Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions, ensuring company policies and practices
maintain strict compliance across all locations.
III. Employee Relations & HR Administration
- Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters such as conflicts,
internal investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance issues, coaching
management to ensure fair and consistent application of company policies. - Serve as the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) expert, managing data
integrity, driving system efficiencies, and ensuring effective utilization of the
platform by employees and managers. - Be ready to assist with and take ownership of HR administrative tasks as needed,
including processing paperwork, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and
supporting the overall transactional flow of the HR department to ensure smooth
operations.
REQUIREMENTS
- 4 plus years in a Sr. HRBP role within a gaming, tech or highly creative work environment
- Excellent people management skills (3 years’ experience of managing a team)
- Practical experience providing formal/informal executive coaching
- Proven track record in talent acquisition, employee relations, employment law, performance management, HR industry trends and HR strategy (CDN and US is a plus)
- Demonstrable experience with HR metrics
- Understands the need to validate the existing culture before attempting to change; is willing to ask questions and learn vs. telling and doing
- Outstanding project management skills delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, complex, creative industry environment
- Be able to work autonomously, exercise excellent judgment, and be a critical member of both business and HR teams
- Be comfortable with ambiguity in an evolving, fast-paced environment
